Mumbai: ‘Rockstar’ might have failed to hit the bull’s-eye at the Box Office but that does not mean it is a damp squib either. With producers Eros International claiming the film has recorded a successful opening weekend collection of Rs 64 crore (gross worldwide), Ranbir Kapoor has finally arrived.
Apparently, post the acclaim of ‘Rockstar’, Ranbir Kapoor has decided to hike his fee. It is believed that the actor is looking forward to a steep hike in his fee for fresh projects.
Currently, Ranbir is charging Rs 8 crore for Anurag Basu’s ‘Barfee’and Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani’. For all those who are looking forward to sign the actor, be prepared to cough up a hefty sum, for the actor will charge around Rs 15 crore.
Talking to a daily, a source said, “Ranbir is in a very happy space now. While ‘Rockstar’ has not been appreciated by a certain section of the audience, there is a clear section which has lapped up the film and Ranbir’s stupendous performance.”
Even a trade analyst defended Ranbir`s hiked fee saying, “He is justified in hiking his price to whatever he is demanding. Post ‘Rockstar’, the boy is set. Frankly, he has now become a superstar.”
