No breaking news of Aishwarya Rai’s baby, skeleton coverage on TV

aishwarya rai pregnant 200x300 The news of Aishwarya Rai’s pregnancy and her star-studded baby shower grabbed print and electronic media coverage galore. But thanks to a 10-point directive against excessive coverage on TV of her childbirth, news channels had skeleton coverage when she delivered a baby girl Wednesday.
According to media reports, the Broadcast Editors Association (BEA) had issued a 10-point advisory to its members on how to cover the birth of Amitabh Bachchan’s third grandchild, following obsessive speculation about the date of Aishwarya’s delivery and the baby’s gender.
While some predicted 11.11.11 as the birthday of the Bachchan baby and bookies even placed bets on the date, many believed Ash would give birth to twins.
However, most of these shows and news clippings were curtailed as the advisory was issued earlier this month. The directives saw a direct impact on the amount and nature of media coverage on the television.
Mumbai’s Seven Hills Hospital, where Ash delivered her bundle of joy, had tight security outside as well as inside.
The paparazzi was only allowed to set up cameras behind the walls of the seven-star hospital, where Bachchans booked three rooms — one for Aishwarya, the other for the Bachchan family and the third for the Rai family.
Therefore, coverage was bare minimum.
Amitabh had earlier clarified that he had no role to play in banning TV channels from placing reporters and cameras outside the hospital. However, he took to Twitter to applaud media’s self-imposed restraint on his celebrity daughter-in-law’s pregnancy.
Other events in the Bachchan household, including Abhi-Ash’s wedding in April 2007, Aishwarya’s Karva Chauth, the announcement of Aishwarya’s pregnancy in June, and her baby shower in October, saw almost all news channels blowing information out of proportion and jazzing their programmes to have maximum TRPs.
All aspects of Abhi-Ash’s “low key” wedding were covered. Be it the pre-wedding functions like mehndi and sangeet, to the D-day when Abhishek, went from his house Jalsa, to his other house, Prateeksha, to marry his lady love – all of it was covered frame by frame by electronic news channels.
When the former Miss World observed a Karva Chauth for the first time for Abhishek, secret TV cameras were planted behind bushes to capture the special moment, while for Ash’s second Karva Chauth, prying camera spoilt the sanctity of the festival, according to Amitabh.
“The prying electronic media positioned themselves at vantage points to invade private space inside our home. It is callous, abhorrent act. Our privacy was invaded without our consent,” Amitabh had said.
As soon as 69-year-old Big B announced in June that Ash is expecting, it received a lot of national and international coverage. Since Aishwarya also announced plans of withdrawing from Madhur Bhandarkar”s “Heroine”, the coverage continued to be blown out of proportion.
Following that, whether it was any party or event, Aishwarya’s baby bump drew interest among cameramen – but in vain. She made few public appearances, and even if she did, she took care to hide her tummy.
Her baby shower was attended by several female celebrities – and news channels once again parked themselves outside Bachchan house to dig details of the party.
Pictures from Aishwarya’s last public appearance before her delivery at a party last week, saw the actress in a black and gold heavy Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla creation, which very well hid her baby bump. However, her bloated and glowing face were a mark of her mother-to-be status

Aishwarya Rai gives birth to Baby Girl

BollywoodWorld.com, A girl was born to star couple Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan at a private hospital here Wednesday morning.

aishwarya rai abhishek 200x192The baby, their first child, was born at the Seven Hills Hospital. Mother and daughter were both doing fine.
“IT’S A GIRL!!,” Abhishek, 35, posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.com. He had recently said he wanted a daughter who looked like Aishwarya.
Proud grandfather Amitabh Bachchan too couldn’t control his happiness and tweeted: “I AM DADA to the cutest baby girl, A dada ji … Ecstatic.”
Hospital sources said the delivery was normal and came a few minutes before 10 a.m. The Bachchan and Rai families were present for the momentous occasion.
Aishwarya, 38, developed labour pains around 4 a.m. and was taken to the labour room where the delivery took place after nearly six hours.
The actress is on the fifth floor of the luxury private hospital in Andheri east.
The hospital had booked three rooms on the floor — one for Aishwarya, the other for the Bachchan family and the third for the Rai family. The entire floor was kept out of bounds for all except the two families.
The hospital has been under tight security for the past three days in expectation of the youngest member of the Bachchan family.
Aishwarya was admitted to the hospital Monday night, according to her spokesperson.
The Bachchan family had been waiting for the baby’s arrival for a few days and preparing for the child’s welcome.
The girl is Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan’s third grandchild, after Agastya and Navya Naveli — children of his daughter Shweta and son-in-law Nikhil Nanda.
Aishwarya tied the knot with Abhishek in April 2007 and rumours about her pregnancy had been doing the rounds ever since.
In June this year, when Amitabh announced her pregnancy through Twitter, it grabbed the headlines.
A 10-point advisory by the Broadcast Editor’s Association (BEA) reportedly asked TV channel heads to curtail media coverage regarding the high-profile delivery.

‘Keep Indian Streets Clean’ – Says An Angry Akshay Kumar

Well, Akshay Kumar recently tweeted a long message on the importance of keeping India’s streets clean. He feels that we keep our house and temples clean but throw the waste on the road. Well, Mumbai city is never known for its cleanliness and Akshay was provoked to say this on twitter when he saw one man carelessly throwing an empty cigaratte packet on the busy road. Akshay also posted a picture of him picking up the waste.
Read what Akshay had to say on this:
akshay-kumar-picking-up-ciguratte-buds-on-the-road-01“I’m going to start with an apology, I’m sorry for this negative message guys, its just that on days like today I cant stand the ignorance of some people. On my way to work this morning this guy really frustrated me. I had to get out of my car in the middle of Bombay traffic right by Mr Bachchan’s house, & literally pick up off the road an empty packet of cigarettes that this man decided to carelessly throw out his window without a second thought. Not only do we have to put up with the fact he smokes but we also have to deal with the fact that he doesn’t care a damn about his city or his motherland that God has so graciously provided for him. If we all treated the streets of India with as much love as we do our homes & temples, we would have 5 star ratings on cleaniness rather than being known as one of the dirtiest cities in the world.
I’m no angel, I drive a car, I fly in planes, sometimes I accidently leave the light on, but I consciously try everyday not to dirty or abuse our city. Question is do you? What’s the worst thing you’ve ever done to our environment, something u walked away from that u wished deep down u hadn’t done? I know for sure the guy that littered in front of me today wont forget his actions. I must say I’m sorry for scaring him but don’t abuse India’s streets & maybe they wont abuse you! Dont forget, let me know ur bad habits :) sometimes writing about them helps u confront & consciously strive to better them. I cant help it i love my country, i just cant cant stand those who dont…”
What do you say? Do you agree with Akshay?

Aishwarya’s Publicist And Seven Hills Hospital Refutes The Delivery Rumors

Mumbai Mirror had published an article with the details of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan‘s impending delivery in Sevens Hills Hospital, Mumbai. Ash and the Bachchans already had a problem with Mumbai Mirron in the past when they published a story that Aishwarya cannot be conceived. This time Bachchans are not in a mood to entertain the claims by this Mumbai media and they have issued a statement (jointly, with the aforementioned hospital) that these are far from truth. Read the statement below.

Pregnant Ash at Hanuman Chalisa album launch
The statement:
This is in regard to the article published by Mumbai Mirror dated 2nd November 2011 titled “Bachchan’s pick Marol hospital for New B”. Let me remind you that this is the same publication who actually had the gall of printing an article earlier titled “Pregnant Pause”, which stated that Mrs. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was incapable of conceiving due to some ailment and now they have turned around and yet again insinuated that there is a possibility that she has pre-decided the date of her delivery!!

Point 1 From The Article: “Says source, ‘There is a possibility of Aishwarya going in for a C Section delivery 11.11.11′.”
Spokesperson Quote: “Yet again ridiculously insinuating such an esteemed and respected family would actually turn nature’s course for such blind sensationalized beliefs. There is a limit to time and again attributing such regressive remarks like marrying her off to a tree or actually planning delivering her baby just for the sake of a sensational journalism. How can journalism allow for such irresponsible reporting with regards to such intimate and personal decisions in a lady’s life. Excitement and curiosity aside how can we allow for this to go on and on – this is disgusting….as a woman as I am sitting on the 3rd of November and if by the will of God and nature’s turn, she does end up delivering on the date mentioned, will this fictitious bit of article remain with her for the rest of her life and as an international public icon, is this what she will be tagged with for the rest of the life. This is not what she needs to go through at this happy moment in her life.”
Point 2 From The Article: “’Every time Aishwarya makes a trip to the hospital extra precaution is taken to safeguard her privacy’, says a source. The sonography section is barricaded and curtains drawn to keep away other curious patients revealed our source.”
Spokesperson Quote: “This is the most ridiculous remark from a fictitious source – when have women been on a stage when sonographies are done in any hospital and on any woman.”
Point 3 From The Article: “Well placed sources at the hospital revealed that the gynecologist especially comes for Aishwarya’s appointment at 7.30 am usually before other patients start trickling in.”
Spokesperson Quote: “This is totally false and baseless.”
Point 4 From The Article: “‘However we cannot ever predict a baby’s arrival, so we have booked the room from the 10th to the 15th’, added the source.”
Spokesperson Quote: “Who is this source to have booked a room on the first place ????”
Commenting on this article, Dr. Pai, Head of Radiology and Vice President, Seven Hills Hospital says, “The report published in a daily tabloid in regards to Mrs. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s delivery at Seven Hills has taken me by surprise. The information and details are a figment of someone’s imagination. 7.30 am appointments and a C SECTION for the 11th as declared in the news piece have no resemblance to the truth and such stories only put the medical fraternity in bad light. It may be added that a sonography is a personal procedure and is not performed in open wards hence it would not be different for any patient; each is entitled to their privacy. Twisted details mislead the people of this country to believe and follow what a writer may see has good masala newsprint.”
Adds Aishwarya’s publicist, “It is unfortunate that such false and fabricated news is being created to influence minds. Such articles as the lead in a daily go against the basic responsibility of print reporting and show case misinformation that could effect the huge following into believing that such wonderful moments of ones lives as a gift of life are open to personal preferences. As a lady I would feel that we should provide a more responsible attitude to such misinformed articles.”
