Miley Naa Miley Hum

Director: Tanveer Khan Cast: Chirag Paswan, Kangna Ranaut, Kabir Bedi, Poonam Dhillon, Sagarika Ghatge, Neeru Bajwa, Dalip Tahil
Indian Express Rating: *1/2
The kindest thing I can say about ‘Miley Naa Miley Tum’ is that it is not a disaster. That classification I have saved for the kind of film that has made me want to scram within minutes of getting into the theatre, of which there has been a deluge in the past few months. The debut feature of Chirag Paswan, son of Ram Vilas, is the kind of film that merely made me want to sink into my seat, every so often.
Chirag ( Paswan) has grown up torn between warring parents, the hard-working vineyard owner (Bedi) and the wealthy multi-millionaire businesswoman (Dhillon). He splits his time between the two, but his heart lies with the game of tennis. All he wants is to win the game, and his girl (Ranaut). In between, there are two pretty lasses to be thwarted: Mummyji’s choice is a short-skirted London-returnee (Ghatge); Daddyji wants a 'kukkad’-cooking, parandi-wearing 'kudi’ (Bajwa) as his 'bahu’.
Of course, game, set and match goes to struggling, klutzy model Anishka (Ranaut). Or is it Anushka? Given Ms Ranaut’s capacity for clear speech, that remains a puzzle.
Paswan Jr has nice hazel eyes, a worked-out bod, and is faintly passable in some scenes. Ranaut is, funnily enough, not as cringe-making in this as she was in her last outing ‘Rascals’, but that’s about all. The supporting cast is made to work hard. Bedi yells. Dhillon mutters. And Tahil shows up as a pug-wearing Sardar, whose job is to show mummyji and daddyji the error of their ways. We know that all’s well when they arrive at sonny boy's match, hand-in-hand. Just one last thing : the script being what it is, maybe the make-up could have been better. Pancake has been taken very seriously here indeed.

Movie fans get glimpse of Jolie’s Blood and Honey

The promotional trailer of Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut, In The Land Of Blood And Honey, hit theatres recently, giving a glimpse of the movie about love and violence in war-torn Bosnia. Juxtaposing romantic scenes with tense footage of warfare, the film’s trailer outlines a love story between a Serbian man and a Bosnian-Muslim woman who are forced apart in the 1992 Bosnian conflicts. The words “Love can change what we want” and “War can change who we are” emerge near the end.
The movie sparked controversy in Bosnia in October a year ago when Jolie was shooting the film. The head of a group of female war victims objected to the movie because, she said, it was about a woman falling in love with her enemy, and a government minister cancelled a permit for the shoot. At the time, the actress asked people to withhold judgment until the movie was finished and they could see the final version.
“There are many twists in the plot that address the sensitive nature of the relationship between the main characters and that will be revealed once the film is released,” the Oscar-winning actress said last year. The film marks Jolie’s directorial debut and she has also penned the script. Newcomers Zana Marjanovic and Goran Kostic play the star-crossed lovers against a backdrop of guns and explosions. Jolie has said she cast unknown Bosnian actors to tell the story authentically. She also chose to shoot scenes simultaneously in the English and Serbo-Croat languages, so that two versions of the film will be released. In The Land Of Blood And Honey is set for release in U.S on December 23.

Saif Ali Khan Declared 10th Nawab of Pataudi

Yesterday 41 year old Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was anointed 10th Nawab of Pataudi in an official ceremony at his ancestral home, Ibrahim Palace. The ceremony involved the heads of 52 villages tying a white turban around Saif Ali Khan’s head. His mother and sisters were present at the ceremony, as well as Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Girlfriend Kareena Kapoor couldn’t attend the ceremony, as she was busy shooting for Reema Kagti’s film opposite Aamir Khan in London.
Saif succeeds his father Mansoor Ali Khan, who passed away on September 22nd, due to a chronic lung infection. Saif accepted the title as a gesture to honour the tradition, but doesn’t want to be addressed as Nawab. The actor prefers his father to be remembered as the Nawab of Pataudi. The title is not recognized by the government anymore.
Saif’s responsibilities now include taking care of his ancestral home, as well as the charity projects of his family.
